For the past week or so, the boyfriend has started looking into teaching English in South Korea. We have a few friends who do that currently, but both of them were given an apartment/dorm by the school/program/whatever they went over with. If my boyfriend decides to do this, not only will I be accompanying him (I’ve always kind of felt like I wanted to live abroad someday, why not Asia?) as well as our animals. Has anyone ever been/moved to/lived in Korea before? I know it’s supposed to be relatively affordable from what my friends say, but I’m interested in how hard it is to find an apartment that allows dogs, what kind of culture shock should we expect, and so on and so forth. Any advice would be welcomed with open arms!
In other news, if AIM prompts you to upgrade? DON’T. I did and now I can’t even fucking USE the stupid program - the first time anyone IMs me, AIM freezes and I have to CTRL+ALT+DELETE and shut it down. So if any of y’all have been wondering where I’ve been… well, let’s just say IRC is just about all I’ve got right now. Blech.
Has anyone ever promoted/dealt with Neon Dollars before? I signed up because they’re currently offering a $150 bonus to new webmasters, and managed to snag a sale in my first day having their links up… but it seems that they don’t actually have the biggest base of cam models. I think that Neon Cams is new, though, but I might be mistaken? Oh well, we’ll see… cross your fingers that they do well, though, since their 30% commission is LIFETIME, unlike AWE, which is only a 14-day cookie. So yeah.

I need to learn to do all the adult promoting and stuff you do. Girl needs her cash!
Elyse from ANTM has a LJ (can’t think of the address but she’s a friend of mine, which is roxyjanine) and she’s in SK right now and posts pictures like daily. She said the language barrier is one of the worst of all the places she has been.
My boyfriend was born in South Korea (adopted to here when he was a few months old), so I’m sure I will inevitably end up visiting someday. Not really looking forward to standing out like a sore thumb if we do go, but I’ve also heard that Koreans are way nicer to Americans who are white and less nice to Asian Americans because it confuses them. :/
If you go, you must post lots of photos and eat lots of kimchee for me!
What pets do you have?

All I know is jumping up and moving somewhere kinda sucks. I moved from Michigan (which I lived my own life in) to Florida, and it sucks not knowing anyone and not having my family around.
If it wasn’t for a really long time I think it could be nice.

I wanted to teach English in South Korea, too! That’s what prompted me to major in the damn thing! LOL!
The place is so awesome. It’s fairly easy to find an apartment. My brother used to live there. When he and his wife got married, they found one close to his work. I think it was, like, 550,000 Wan, which really isn’t that much. I’m not sure about the exact equivalence, but I think it’s like $450-$500 a month. Did I mention it was for a three bedroom, two bathroom apartment? The only thing that sucks is that not a lot of places have elevators so you have to walk up a bunch of stairs. I stayed at three different hotels and had to walk up at least three to five stories.
As for culture shock, well, I really can’t help there. I lived close to Asia, so it was pretty much like being at home. The only REAL culture shock was that hardly anyone spoke English.
